Another eventful and busy week on the ground floor. Lots of rain plus the high tides early in the week meant the ground water level made itself visible to us in the beam trench for just a short period. Lots of activity this week mainly concrete cutting, kango hammering etc in preparation for pouring the ground beam. The concrete pour for this has been delayed. During the demo from this area an old concrete drain was exposed in the slab next to the seaward wall which can be seen in the attached photo. We also exposed an old eye hook which had been concreted into the sea wall. This would have been used to tie boats up to back in the day. Work commenced on Monday the 17th of May. A section of carpet, and flooring has been cut and prepared for the installation of the ground beam next week. The concrete pour for this is taking place next Thursday the 28th. The sub floor looks dry and in good condition. Beneath this consists of 2 concrete floor slabs of 100mm each sitting on top of compacted hard fill. This section looks solid and in good condition. It certainly has been a challenge for the contractors working in Clyde Quay over the last couple of weeks with the consistently inconsistent weather. Just to recap on the progress so far: The cradle and the cradle arms have been removed from the slipway. All the rust and detritus around the slipway has been removed. The rail tracks running from the slipway out into t he marina have been cut and are awaiting removal. The old WOSC dock has been removed and broken up for disposal. Nearly there! Over the last few weeks the Focus group has met to establish a concept for the refurbishment of the bar and the Wardroom. This has proved to be very successful with stage 1 and 2 of the project now well under way to completion.
