RPNYC Friday Speaker Series

An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Friday, repeating until 14-Aug-2020

This week we have Gavin Pascoe who has just restored a 19th century model of the Waitangi. The original yacht was built by Robert Logan in 1985 for a Club syndicate to win the New Zealand A class championshipship, which she did.

Gavin will bring the model to the Club and discuss the rather unusual early history of the yacht, the model, and, while keeping it brief, any related stuff he can think of.

VHF operators course

The VHF Radio Operator course is a 6-hour, theory-only course including exam, providing the necessary knowledge required to obtain the “Marine VHF Operator Qualification”. Any person operating a maritime VHF radio must hold, as a minimum requirement, a Maritime VHF Radio Operator Certificate (unless transmitting in an emergency or a distress situation). Advanced Sea Survival

A comprehensive theoretical (classroom) and practical (wet drill) course required by crew competing in offshore (category 1) races. This World Sailing and Yachting New Zealand approved course is held over a full weekend. Coastal yachting experience is recommended. Water confidence is required for the wet drill. Boatmaster Course

The Boatmaster course is a 30-hour, theory-only course providing in-depth knowledge of all aspects of boating safety. Whilst this is an excellent stand-alone course, the Boatmaster course is also a pre-requisite for the 'Coastal Skipper' and 'Offshore Skipper' courses, the more advanced Coastguard Boating Education qualifications.
