Wellington Ocean Sports is pleased to announce that we will be running group coaching sessions in the lead up to the Port Nicholson Regatta.
When
Thursday 7th February, Wednesday 13th February, Wednesday 21st February. On the water at 6pm with a 45 minute debrief in the wardroom afterwards. If the weather doesn’t play ball to get out on the water, then we’ll run a session in the Wardroom starting at 6.30pm.
How it works
All sessions will all be on the water if conditions allow. Otherwise a shore-based session will be run. If an on the water session is going to be run a youtube link will be sent out to those who are registered in the early afternoon. This will contain a video briefing talking through the evenings drills. We will then meet directly on the water and get right into it. Afterwards, we will head back to have a 45 minute debrief in the wardroom or at Wellington Ocean Sports.
We are going to try and get lots of video and use tracking apps for group and individual analysis afterwards. For this you may get provided with an extra crew member who’s job it will be to video how you work on the boat. Don’t worry – we aren’t going to be picking on anyone and will ask permission before sharing on board video with the wider group. We will also ask you to load RaceQs on to a phone and use that later. You will get links to video taken on the water sent to you, so you and your crew can spend some time analysing things that are specific to your boat.
What it costs
The coaching is free for members of RPNYC and those registered for the Port Nicholson Regatta. For all others there is a $10 charge for each session attended to be paid online.
What do we need to do?
Register so you get added on to the email list. We’ll send out some more info to those registered closer to the sessions.
I’m not sure I can muster a full crew
Let us know. We’ll be working hard to get lots of Ocean Sports grads down to help out filming and running the training. If you need extra crew we’ll do our best to find you some!
We’re not doing the regatta or we aren’t very good
All the more reason to come along and upskill!
