Nearly there!
Over the last few weeks the Focus group has met to establish a concept for the refurbishment of the bar and the Wardroom. This has proved to be very successful with stage 1 and 2 of the project now well under way to completion. As a result of ongoing work through this weekend the wardroom bar will now be opened to members next Friday the 18th. Look out for a gourmet BBQ on the deck (weather permitting) with some awesome new food and beverage offerings.
Stages 1 and 2
As mentioned in previous correspondence Stage 1 and 2 encompasses the refurbishment of the kitchen and the bar. These stages will be completed by this Sunday, 13th of September.
Stage 3
With the approval of the Focus group we have pressed on and made some progress on the next stage of the refurbishment. The additional work being done as part of this stage is:
- A new timber floor for the bar zone
- New bar fridges
- A full paint job for the wardroom
- New lighting and AV gear.
This additional work should be completed by next Friday, 18th September.
Our partners, WHG, have invested heavily in what will be an upgraded, fantastic facility for members and groups hiring the Wardroom. In this regard we, as a Club, have a lot to thank the WHG team for. They have now created “Black and Gold Events†to manage the Wardroom bar and run the functions and venue operation under contract for RPNYC. General Manger of B&G, Luke Speerin, has a great team of experienced people to ensure functions and Club events operate in a professional and successful manner.
Mention also needs to be made of Hutt City Builders who have done a great job in managing the project and have been a pleasure to work with right from the start.
