Many years ago the annual Cook Strait Classic was the short offshore race of the season, with a huge fleet of boats using this as the delivery to the Sounds for Christmas cruising. To bring this back, the Sailing Committee has amended the safety requirements to encourage more yachts to enter the race once again.
The annual Barton Marine Cook Strait Classic starts on Saturday 21 December at 0835. There is a full NTC posted outlining the requirements for yachts to enter this classic race as Cat 4 modified. This means boats entered under this criteria will need to complete a skippers declaration and safety inspection checklist, as well as a a pre-race safety inspection from a member of the Sailing Committee.
If you wish to enter this race please do so on SailSys now. There are a number of vessel and crew compliance items that will need to be checked off within the SailSys programme so don’t leave it to the last minute! If you need help with entering, or the safety items in the NTC then please contact Geoff Herd or Steve Thompson.
