On Friday 16 October Wellington Ocean Sports Manager joined 26 other boating education leaders in a jump off Queens Wharf to remember the 27 people who drowned in recreational boating last year. The jump organised by Maritime New Zealand also marked the beginning of Safe Boating week.
Attended by various media organisations such as TV3 and Stuff, the jump was a high profile event that raised awareness of the need for safe boating education.
The event was also a perfect fit for with the aims of the Wellington Ocean Sports Schools Safe Boating Programme according to Manager Matt Wood. “Our aim is to provide boating education to all school children in the Wellington Region, events like this give our programme some much needed exposure and raises awarenessâ€
