2020 Port Nicholson Regatta – Orange Flag Up
Set your watches. Book the dates. Our flagship event is getting ready to open for entries in mid-October. The dates for the next Port Nicholson Regatta are 5-8 March 2020, and you’re all invited! The Regatta opens Thursday with an Invitation Race in the evening for the new Charity Cup. There is championship racing in three divisions, with a new “Division C” to optimise racing for different fleets. A Sports Boats division is included this year too – promising more excitement on the water. There will also be ‘one day race options’, including the harbour cruise and the classic yacht race. Race management will be provided again by John and Linda Parrish.
We’ve been fortunate to secure some amazing sponsorship with great prizes and have some new trophies for handicap in each of the Championship divisions, and a new PHRF Shield for Division C. The Rona Trophy will be contested by the classic yachts. The Ross Telford Memorial Trophy will be awarded to Regatta Champion. There are trophies for the Young 88 fleet, and we will be announcing details of a new trophy for IRC…
So much silverware! So many visitors! So much racing! So many prizes! So many beers to serve and people to feed! We need some help pulling it all together. If you’re able to assist before or during the Regatta in some way, please get in touch. It would be terrific if each boat nominated someone willing to help… regatta@rpnyc.org.nz.
The Port Nicholson Regatta adds spectacle to our beautiful harbour, showcases our Club to Wellington, and provides an opportunity to share the Port Nic experience with guests and visitors – whether on the water, on our boats, in the boatsheds, or in our Club. We hope you, your sailing buddies and your out of town mates remember the Port Nicholson Regatta 5-8 March 2020… “you should be here!”
