From Gucci
Managed to find another crew so that made six.
A bit of a twist while gybing but all good.
By the time we got to the rip we had a reef and 30 kts with plenty of water over the deck.
Blink was seen doing a few tacks in the middle of the Strait, but we continue on.
The call soon went out to shake the reef out, then back to the no2.
Malcom say where’s the no1? I say back in the shed.
We eased the sheets after Koamaru with only six miles to the finish, 6hrs 41 min.
The record is 4hrs 30min by Arbitrage 2001.
Dinner was served on the way to Furneaux Lodge where me met up with Blink and Laissez Faire
Blink’s story
Cracking start in NW 16-22 one reef in main and #2.
Hoist A6 at Kau bay and away sneaking in a few cheeky 20 knots boat speed heading out. Top speed 22.9 knots.
2 sail reach from MM to Sinclair with a change from #2 to #4 settled into a long upwind leg with a few tacks to the brothers.
A couple of reefs in / out / in
Bear away a touch at Cape Komaru only to have the wind swing to SW so on the nose to the finish
5:01:05 race record is 4:39 and some change..
Next time…
Then the games commenced.. Port / Beers / Rums repeat
Dinner at Furneaux
Terrible pool
Shennanigans
Shoulder injuries driving back – checked out and nothing serious 🙂
