The course options for the Two-Handed and Fully Crewed races in the Waitoa Social Club Winter Series 2022 are shown on the following table.
These courses replace any previously published on this site and elsewhere for the 2021-22 Sailing Season Inshore races.

These marks are orange spherical buoys displaying the mark number. Their approximate positions are:
Mark 4 – Ngauranga : 41 15.250′ S 174 49.090′ E
Mark 5 – SW of Somes Island: 41 15.599′ S 174 51.164′ E
Mark 11 – Korokoro: 41 14.570′ S 174 50.549′ E
Mark 16 – Evolution Sails/NZ Rigging (Oriental Bay): 41 17.093′ S 174 47.783′ E
Important: Note that Mark 16 has been relocated to Oriental Bay.
- NTC12 - Change of Schedule for Two-Handed Winter Series

The schedule of races and start times for the Two-Handed Winter Series have been changed as follows:

This modifies the 2021-2022 Chronology of Races and Events.
Explanation: There has been feedback from competitors that they would like the opportunity to sail at Evans Bay and Lowry Bay clubs over winter, as they have done in previous years. On review, running the Two-Handed Winter Series on the Saturday of the same weekend as the Fully Crewed Winter Series works best. The start time has been changed to give boats from visiting clubs time to cross the harbour to participate.

Change of Start Time
The start time is 1200hrs on Saturday 14 May 2022.
As per Offshore Sailing Instruction 11.3, Offshore Sailing Instruction 5.2 is amended as follows:
Race Briefing Warning Signal Approximate Distance Safety Category Ship Cove 1800 hours 13 May 2022 1155 hours 14 May 2022 40 NM 3 Explanation: The Ship Cove Race on 5 Feb 2022 was postponed.
If the race cannot proceed as intended, normal postponement procedures will apply.
- NTC10 - Offshore Race Saturday 9 April 2022 - Port Underwood

Based on feedback from intending competitors, the course / destination is Port Underwood.
Change of Start Time
The start time is 0900hrs on Saturday 9 April 2022.
Explanation: The published Barton Marine Offshore Series Notice of Race and Sailing instructions give an incorrect start time. The revised start time allows for a favourable tide and more daylight during the race.
Sailing Instruction 5.2 is amended as follows:

Eligibility and Entry
For the avoidance of doubt these races are Invitation Races.
Attention is drawn to Clause 4.6 of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club 2021-2022 Racing Season Inshore Notice of Race – Entries shall be lodged on the RPNYC website prior to the scheduled warning signal for the race or event in which the entrant wishes to participate.
The following criteria shall apply in addition apply to boats competing in the races during Club Week (Races scheduled between Monday 7 March and Sunday 13 March 2022) for boats to be eligible to win trophies/prizes in the specified race.
Two-Handed Race – Only two people on the yacht.
Women’s Helm Race – Yacht shall be helmed by a woman.
Crew’s Race – Yacht shall be helmed by a usual crew member who is neither the owner nor usual helmsperson.
Veteran’s Race – Yacht shall be helmed by a current Veteran Member of RPNYC (Club Rule 25).These criteria are in addition to those specified under Section 4 of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club 2021-2022 Racing Season Inshore Notice of Race. Boats that do not meet the criteria will still be given a result but will not be eligible for trophies/prizes for the race.

Safety and Communication
Where Helm Criteria are specified above (Women’s Helm Race, Crew’s Race and Veteran’s Race), Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club 2021-2022 Racing Season Sailing Instructions clause 22(a) is modified to read – Yachts shall radio in prior to the race start, stating their intention to race, the number of people on board, and the name of the helmsperson.
Scoring
All races are to be scored on Fleet Rum (Invitational), PHRF and Line. In addition Island Bay will be scored on Fleet Inshore, for those boats who have entered the Fleet Series.
As per clause 13.1 & clause 31.2 of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club 2021-2022 Racing Season Inshore Notice of Race – The Organising Authority may award trophies for the winners of specific races, series or divisions, or subgroups of a race, series, or division. Other prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Organising Authority.

Evidence of Course sailed
All yachts racing shall provide the race committee with evidence of sailing south of the designated Latitude. It is suggested that a digital photo of the yachts position shown on a suitable navigation device is taken.
This evidence shall be provided within 30mins of the last yacht finishing the race and may be emailed to vc@rpnyc.org.nz or shown to a member of the race committee.Alternative Course
Should weather conditions not be suitable to run a race outside the harbour, the race committee will signal an alternative harbour course from the 2021-2022 course list - NTC07 - Barton Marine Offshore Series - Nelson Race

The published Barton Marine Offshore Series Notice of Race and Sailing instructions for the start times for the Nelson Race have an incorrect start time.
The correct start time is at 8:00 AM on Friday 21 January 2022.
This will allow the fleet to start with the tide on the south coast going with the fleet.
For avoidance of confusion the alternative date for the Nelson Race published in the chronology of racing and on the RPNYC website will not apply.
If the race cannot proceed as intended, normal postponement procedures will apply.

The course for the Island Bay Race will be one of the following as signaled by the Race Committee:

Yachts are not required to go around the mark, instead, they shall sail to a point that is both south and east of the mark before sailing to the next mark or finishing line (as listed in the courses below).
- Island Bay mark is a line of longitude at 174°46.5′E (due south from the eastern side of Taputeranga Island). Yachts shall cross this line at any latitude from east to west before proceeding to the next mark or finishing line (as listed in the courses below).
- Sinclair Head mark is a line of longitude at 174°43′E (due south from Sinclair Head). Yachts shall cross this line at any latitude from east to west before proceeding to the next mark or finishing line (as listed in the courses below).
