GFNZ Clyde Quay Clean up II
23 September @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
It’s time for another clean-up! We have the Ghost Fishing Dive squad (Check out the Ghost Fishing NZ Facebook page) coming to help us declutter Clyde Quay seabed and surrounding areas again.
There are a whole raft of ways you can help including shore crew or if you’re a qualified diver and keen to get in the water, you may be able to join the squad (please email Katie if this part interests you).
We also need some dinghy’s again please, with a few volunteer rowers to bring back items from the divers. No outboards on dinghy’s thanks so we can be sure of diver safety.
The purpose of this event is twofold; first is to make a start clearing the seabed and general marina of anthropogenically-derived pollution in the area and, secondly, we hope to raise awareness to our members and the public of the human impact on the marine environment.
This is a fun thing to do with the kids as the de-crittering helps them learn about sea life as they save the critters from the trash.
Date: Sunday 23rd September
Time: Registration @ 930am (everyone must be registered for health & safety purposes)
If you are interested in helping on shore or have a dinghy we can borrow for this event then please email email@example.com
