Message from the Turkish Ambassador and Spouse
Sunday, October 29, 2023 was the 100th Anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic Of Türkiye.
We would like to thank the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club for organising a Turkish Rally to celebrate the centennial of the Turkish Republic.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate the strong friendship between New Zealand and Türkiye. The Turkish guests were very impressed with the RPNYC and the hospitality of its members. We hope RPNYC members also enjoyed the Turkish coffee, delight and other delicacies.
The highlight of the rally for us was seeing the smiles on the faces of both the members of the RPNYC and the Turkish guests.
We hope that the Turkish Rally will become an annual event, so that we can continue to celebrate the strong friendship between New Zealand and Türkiye for many years to come.

Message from RPNYC
Thank you very much to Murat who has taken part in the last three Ambassador’s Races and previously enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the RPNYC fleet, and proposed the idea of a social rally to celebrate the centennial of the Turkish Republic.
With 16 boats on the water hosting 30 guests, what a wonderful social day on the water, that also brought down club friends and family to join in the social rally, sail, cruise or motor around the harbour, depending on the conditions. While the wind was varying, the sun stayed out and fun was had by all from the Turkish coffee and marbling in the morning through to the Turkish food enjoyed in the afternoon.
Special mentions go to:
Annie who sailed the whole course without using their iron sail (motor)
Oyster who got exactly the estimated time they predicted (DNF)
Blue Jacaranda who got closet to their predicted time, but decided not to complete the whole course.
