Want to feel more confident and competent on the water?
This day is for both crew and skippers to learn more about safety equipment and what to do with it. If you’re offshore crew (or would like to be) this is an ideal day for you but it’s not about racing – if you’d like to do some inshore and coastal cruising then there’s heaps for you as well.
What does the day look like?
- We’ll run the new Yachting NZ Coastal Personal Safety workshop covering some of the basics of personal water safety
- Elliot from Barton Marine will be there with some gear to play with
- Bring your inflatable life jacket with you to be checked
- A light BBQ will be available for $10
- Stuart Burrows will run a short session post lunch on dealing with common sailing injuries
- We’ll close with a practical demonstration of a few man overboard retrieval techniques.
It will be a fun day, with something for all of us who sail, whether offshore or Friday night rum racing. And the bar will be open when we finish around 2:30.
