What a week it was!
On Sunday, 12th May, our friends from Ghost Fishing NZ were back to haul up more trash and rubbish from our doorstep, Clyde Quay.
And on Saturday, 18th May, we celebrated our racing fleet, skippers and crews with our annual Prize Giving.
SEASON 2018/19 PRIZE GIVING
The trophies were polished, the room was gleaming and everyone’s eyes were full of anticipation with smiles and cheerfulness all around. Just what it needed to be!
We were also welcoming our sponsors Charlotte and Pat from Lola Stays (Rum Series) and Paul from Dunning Thornton (Offshore Series), handing over the respective trophies to the winners. Thank you for your attendance and your support throughout the year!
We applauded all the different race winners – you can find all Season results here: https://rpnyc.org.nz/print-race-series-results/
We congratulate all our skippers and crews for their wins and Josh with Clear Vision for an incredible nine trophies!
But not only that, we also recognized boats and members specifically for their outstanding contribution:
- Mike West for Personality of the year
- Jeremy Rosenstock for Graduate of the year
- Saucy Sausage for Boat of the year
- Zimmerframe Racing II got the Tender Cup for racing the most races (a trophy that was lost and returned after over 100 years)
- Blink for participating in the race to and then around Noumea, covering ~4,000 nm
Alex Paterson from Arrowhead Creative took some great photos – have a look here:

GHOSTFISHING NZ – PROJECT BASELINE CLYDE QUAY
The enthusiastic and well organised Ghost Fishing team organised another clean up session and we had a fantastic turn out to support this event. Have a look at the photos and videos below – you don’t need a Facebook account to access them.
And via the link below you can see photos of the hard working divers and shore crew as well as the massive amount of bottles that were removed. With every single clean up we are re-instating the natural habitat for all the weird and wonderful creatures living in the murky waters in front of the Yacht Club.
We are all excited to start the Winter Series next weekend, and are looking forward to seeing you all on and off the water.
