As you will be aware, the NZ Government has introduced the ātraffic light systemā as part of the new Covid-19 Protection Framework. This will directly affect clubs such as ours and the board of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club (RPNYC) has worked its way through the various government announcements and guidance over the last few weeks to develop a COVID-19 policy for the Club.
In considering how to respond to this new framework we have considered a number of factors including the health and safety of our staff, members and customers, along with understanding how best to ensure the ongoing financial security for the Club.
In recent years membership subscriptions have accounted for less than 20% of the total revenue for the club, so itās critical for the Clubās ongoing success that we are able to maximize the revenue we receive from our lease to Coeneās, Wellington Ocean Sports courses, and venue hire. The physical environment of these operations means it is not easy to separate them and have a different approach for each.
The Board of RPNYC has therefore made the decision that from the 3rd of December 2021, access to all facilities and vessels of RPNYC will require a valid My Vaccine Pass before entry. This requirement also applies to swipe card access to the Club house toilets, and we will be contacting everyone who has a card to provide evidence of vaccination to retain access.
This link will take you to the Club COVID-19 Policy that has been approved by the Board and will provide further details on the requirements for all aspects of our operations.
We will be exploring some technology initiatives to try and make confirming vaccine passes as quick as possible, but this is not likely to be in place until February / March next year.
I appreciate this will change the way members interact with the Club facilities, but it is important that members abide by the policy. Board members will be working with our staff to help implement the policy and will supporting them with checking My Covid Pass status over the coming weeks.
Thank you
Dave Roberts
