For last year’s Line 7 Port Nicholson Regatta Wellington turned on three days of sunshine and good breeze. But Huey always wants to be paid, the cheque bounced, and the forecasts this year were dire all over the country. Wow, what a cracker day Wellington’s third day of summer turned out to be! The variable forecast gave us a leisurely southerly breeze in Evans Bay. It started out a little cool which had us reaching for our fleecies. Race 1 for us was a short windward leeward – two beats and a run to finish. After two blown-out weekends the Sailing Committee made the call on Friday to bring the start of the final race of the Alan Martin Series forward to 1130 Saturday to try and get a race in ahead of the forecast blow.
