Generous sponsorship support makes a huge difference to the event – and it also means Skipper Gift Packs could be worth more than the entry fee! Exciting changes include the Charity Cup Invitation Race on Thursday evening with sponsors/guests aboard yachts racing on behalf of local charities. After racing there will be prizes and a buffet dinner – the perfect way to start to our weekend.
There are more opportunities to get boats on the water with the ‘Full Monty’ offering the traditional three day regatta experience, or ‘the Weekender’ for a Saturday and Sunday experience (with spinnaker and non-spinnaker options). The Classic Yacht Race (Saturday) and a Wellington Harbour Rally (Sunday) provide opportunity for boats across Wellington to go sailing and return to Port Nic for prizes and refreshments.
More Divisions, More Silverware
The new ‘Division C’ promises a better sailing experience for all boats, and includes its own PHRF trophy. There are also new general handicap trophies for Divisions A, B and C. We also have a new IRC trophy for Div B, with generous prizes. There will also be a separate Sports Boats division, with boats expected from Auckland and beyond.
Regatta Hospitality and catering
We have great hospitality including a delicious buffet dinner with complimentary wine from Lawson’s Dry Hills to celebrate the Regatta opening. Breakfast options each morning in the club, a Fundraising BBQ provided by WYST on Friday evening, and deluxe build-your-own burgers on Saturday night. All catering will be provided on a pre-sale basis.
Thank you so much to those who have already put there hands up to contribute their time and energy to the Regatta. If you’d like to be involved, there’s definitely plenty to do now, during, and after the event. We are certainly looking for more support boat drivers and crew, to have a dedicated ‘media’ boat to enhance the photographic opportunities.
